Description

The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking industry partners to commercialize its noble-ice-modulated superconducting circuit technology. This technology offers a passive, cryogenic, loss-free post-fabrication tuning method for superconducting resonators and qubits, which can correct frequency scatter without compromising coherence or scaling economics. The advantages of this technology include kHz-level resolution, zero added loss, simplicity, and post-cooldown adjustability. Potential applications span the full cryogenic-electronics landscape, including superconducting quantum-processor makers, commercial wafer foundries, and cryogenic-sensor manufacturers. • The technology has a high potential for commercialization and can provide a competitive edge in the marketplace. • The laboratory is seeking partners with a demonstrated ability to bring such inventions to the market. • The partnership will involve the transfer of technology and intellectual property from LLNL to the partner. • The partner will be responsible for further developing and commercializing the technology. • The laboratory is open to negotiating the terms of the partnership, including the licensing agreement and the scope of work.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The potential budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as it depends on various factors such as the terms of the partnership, the scope of work, and the commercialization strategy. However, considering the high potential for commercialization and the competitive edge that this technology can provide, it is likely that the budget will be substantial. A possible estimate could be in the range of $500,000 to $5 million, depending on the level of investment and the revenue generated from the commercialization of the technology. The factors that may influence the likely payment range include the level of investment required to commercialize the technology, the potential market size and growth, and the competitive landscape.
