RFI-Climate Risk and Transition Opportunity Analytics Solutions

The Maryland State Retirement Agency is seeking information from service providers to identify best-in-class climate risk analysis and data solutions that can enhance the System's ability to integrate both physical and transition climate risk considerations across its entire portfolio. The System has identified areas of need, including physical climate-related financial risks, carbon footprint and sector exposures, transition risk assessments, asset-class specific risk metrics, scenario analyses, and systemic climate risk monitoring. The selected contractor will provide related products, solutions, and services to the System. Key aspects of the job include: • Analyzing portfolio for climate-related acute and chronic physical risks and hazards to asset performance • Assessing portfolio carbon emissions and developing a baseline from which future annual exposures can be measured • Evaluating portfolio companies' and assets' transition readiness, especially in high-impact sectors • Defining and tracking climate-related physical risk and climate-related transition risk metrics across all asset classes • Providing approaches for analyzing short, medium, and long-term risks and opportunities under multiple climate warming scenarios • Identifying opportunities to invest in climate solutions and tracking the System's portfolio's alignment with both resilience requirements under various temperature scenarios and a low-carbon energy transition.
