Description

The City of Seattle Parks Department is seeking qualified contractors to replace the existing wooden flood‑light poles at Magnolia Playfield with new shielded LED floodlights, associated conduit, wiring, junction boxes, and lighting control panels. The scope includes demolition and proper disposal of potentially contaminated wood poles, tree pruning, removal of existing floodlights, installation of new poles and LED fixtures, and replacement of electrical panels and circuit breakers. The Engineer’s Estimate for the project is $1,219,433.60. Contractors must provide a 5 % bid guaranty and comply with extensive Washington state licensing, insurance, and WMBE inclusion requirements. • Demolish and haul existing wooden flood‑light poles (possible CCA‑treated) and dispose per hazardous waste specs. • Install new LED floodlight poles, conduit, wiring, junction boxes, receptacles, and control panels. • Replace electrical panels, circuit breakers, and perform required tree pruning. • Submit bid through OpenGov with required certifications, insurance, and WMBE inclusion plan. • Must meet Washington State contractor registration, UBI, and prevailing‑wage training requirements.

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $1,500,000

The Engineer’s Estimate for the full scope is $1,219,433.60, which represents the total contract value the City expects to pay. Assuming typical contractor profit margins of 5‑10 % for public‑works electrical projects, the expected earnings for the winning firm would likely fall between roughly $1.0 million (if the contract is awarded at a lower bid) and $1.5 million (if change orders or additional scope are added). Factors influencing the final budget include the final bid price, any approved change orders, the cost of hazardous‑material disposal, and compliance costs for WMBE participation.
