Description

The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking industry partners to commercialize its technology for maximizing rare earth element separation with Lanmodulin protein using a novel desorption technology. This technology has the potential for efficient intra-REE separation, which is fast and cost-effective. The key benefits of this technology include its ability to separate rare earth elements without degrading the capacity of the LanM column, and its potential for significant separation in a single adsorption-desorption cycle. • Efficient intra-REE separation that is fast and cost-effective • Does not degrade the capacity of the LanM column • Potential for significant separation in a single adsorption-desorption cycle rendering secondary separation steps unnecessary • Integration into the existing separation platform of protein-based separation

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $10,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate because the document does not specify any payment amounts. However, considering the technology's potential for efficient and cost-effective rare earth element separation, it could be a high-value opportunity. The budget may be in the form of licensing fees, royalties, or equity investments. Assuming the technology is successful and widely adopted, the budget could range from $100,000 to $10 million or more, depending on the terms of the partnership and the revenue generated by the technology. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the level of investment required to commercialize the technology, the potential market size and demand for the technology, and the competitive landscape.
