Description

The University of Maine System is seeking a qualified contractor to provide comprehensive life‑safety fire‑alarm services for its University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) campuses in Augusta and Bangor. The scope includes continuous fire‑alarm monitoring, annual on‑site inspections, and all necessary repairs of a diverse set of fire‑alarm panels across dozens of campus buildings. Monitoring may be subcontracted, but inspections and repairs must be performed directly by the prime contractor. The contract will run for an initial three‑year term with an optional two‑year extension, and the contractor must meet extensive insurance, data‑protection, and accessibility requirements. • Continuous 24/7 fire‑alarm monitoring with a toll‑free support line. • Annual on‑site inspection and testing of fire‑alarm equipment for compliance with state and federal codes. • In‑house repair and maintenance of multiple fire‑alarm panel brands (Silent Knight, Notifier, Simplex, FireLite, Gamewell, etc.). • Required documentation, quarterly performance reviews, and a single point of contact for the university. • Contract value expected to exceed $50,000, requiring senior university approvals and $1 M minimum insurance coverage.

Budget estimate

$80,000 – $150,000

The RFP does not disclose a budget ceiling, but contracts of this nature for multi‑campus fire‑alarm services typically range from $80 k to $150 k annually, depending on the number of devices, labor rates, and required monitoring infrastructure. Assuming a three‑year base term, the total contract value could fall roughly between $240,000 and $450,000. The estimate reflects the need for 24/7 monitoring, yearly inspections of dozens of panels, and in‑house repair capabilities, all of which drive labor and equipment costs.
