Description

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to determine the availability of qualified businesses capable of providing an X-ray Fluorescence Scanner. The scanner should be capable of analyzing both marine sediment and mineral cores, with the ability to analyze elements from magnesium through uranium or better with high precision and sensitivity. The scanner should also have appropriate safety shielding for x-rays and be equipped with an RGB camera that collects images paired to the XRF scan. The USGS is seeking a capabilities statement detailing the ability of the service to meet the statement of work included with this announcement. Some key features of the desired X-ray Fluorescence Core Scanner include: • The ability to analyze both wet and dry cores • The ability to analyze elements from magnesium through uranium or better with high precision and sensitivity • The ability to analyze samples up to 1.5 m in length at 1 mm resolution or better • Energy resolution of 3% or better • An RGB camera that collects images paired to the XRF scan at a resolution of 50 micrometers or better • A one-year standard warranty, as well as product installation and appropriate user training
