The National Park Service intends to award a task agreement under a previously competed master cooperative agreement for the project titled "Ku No Ka Pono o Haleakala." The project aims to provide conservation internships for high school and college students from the local community. The internships will support and encourage pursuit of conservation careers by providing valuable work experience with park professionals. Key aspects of the project include:
• Providing summer and year-long hands-on conservation internships that engage youth from the local community.
• Offering eight-week and three-week summer internships targeting high school and college students.
• Placing college-aged interns with specific park divisions and high school interns with various park divisions.
• Providing a year-long internship with the Interpretation Division.
• Supporting the development of responsible citizenship, productive community involvement, and furthering the understanding, appreciation, and conservation of natural, cultural, and historic resources.
