Design Services - LOT 40 Solar Panel Canopy System

The State University of New York at Stony Brook is seeking design services for the construction of a solar canopy system over Lot 40, which should maximize solar energy production while minimizing the removal of parking spaces. The design should incorporate provisions for future infrastructure, including a Battery Energy Storage System, level 3 DC fast charging, and level 2 charging stations. The project involves designing a solar carport with an inverted valley style configuration, structural design complying with building codes, and future-ready provisions for electrical distribution equipment. • The solar canopy system should be designed to mitigate snow slide-off hazards and improve safety for vehicles and pedestrians. • The project requires the removal of existing lighting fixtures and the integration of new under-mounted lighting with a 4000K color temperature and a Color Rendering Index of at least 75. • The design should preserve and incorporate existing pole-mounted cameras for parking lot monitoring and security. • The project is expected to support an anticipated rated capacity of approximately 5 MWdc. • The site should accommodate 18-wheel tractor-trailer deliveries with a minimum vertical clearance of 14.5 feet and a minimum horizontal clearance of 25 feet.
