Description

This grant supports the second year of New Jersey’s McKinney‑Vento regional partnership program, which coordinates supplemental academic and support services for children and youth experiencing homelessness. Four regional grantees (existing Year‑1 awardees) will receive funding to partner with local education agencies and community service providers to ensure that all homeless students in their designated counties receive needed academic instruction, counseling, transportation, and other wrap‑around services. The grant is a continuation award (only prior Year‑1 recipients may apply) and requires compliance with federal cost principles, reporting, and administrative caps. • Provide tutoring, after‑school, and summer instruction delivered by certified teachers. • Offer student services such as expedited evaluations, mental‑health referrals, transportation assistance, and family outreach. • Coordinate with local agencies, non‑profits, and health providers to create a regional support network, and may sub‑grant portions of the award to partners while retaining administrative control. • Manage a budget of up to $1,000,291 (Region 4) with a maximum 15 % administrative cost cap and at least 85 % of funds spent on direct program services. • Submit monthly reimbursement requests, a mid‑term activity report, and a final close‑out report, and maintain UEI/SAM registration and FFATA disclosures.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

The total award pool is $3.1 M, divided among four regional grantees. Assuming a primary grantee retains about 85 % of funds for direct services and may subcontract 10‑15 % of the total award to vendors, a subcontractor could realistically earn between $50 k (for smaller regional grants) and $200 k (for the largest region). The exact amount will depend on the scope of work, the proportion of the budget allotted to sub‑grantees, and the administrative cap (max 15 %).
