The Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (GCVHCS) Pathology and Laboratory Department requires a document control system to warehouse, catalog, manage, and provide employee access to standard operating procedures, templated forms, and related documents. The system must provide easy, accurate access for tracking multiple documents, including automated processes for storage, approval, review, and archiving of documents in a cost-effective and waste-reductive manner. • The system must meet the conditions/requirements of 38 CFR 17.3500, VA application of 42 CFR (part 493 standards for clinical laboratory operations) and VHA Directive 1106. • The system must provide tracking and approval workflows for published communications to ensure proper approval and guidance issuance for laboratory document control activities. • The system must be compatible with the Department of Veterans Affairs Laboratory and Pathology Departments.
