Description

The Jersey City Public Schools is seeking a qualified vendor to provide interpreter and translation services, specifically for American Sign Language (ASL) in the Special Education Department. The school district has a diverse population with over 50 languages spoken and is looking for a vendor who can provide high-quality interpretation services to support students with disabilities. The contract will be awarded to the respondent whose proposal is most advantageous to the board, considering factors such as price, quality of service, and compliance with regulations. The vendor will be required to comply with various regulations, including anti-discrimination laws, and to provide proof of business registration and insurance. The contract will be for a period of one year, with the option for renewal. Some key responsibilities of the vendor will include: • Providing certified educational interpreters in ASL • Complying with all applicable laws and regulations, including anti-discrimination laws and laws related to criminal history background checks • Providing proof of business registration and insurance • Submitting to a criminal history background check for all employees who will be working with students • Complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act and providing equal employment opportunities. The vendor will be paid an hourly rate for the services provided, and the total cost of the contract will depend on the number of hours worked.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $75,000

The budget for this contract is likely to be moderate, given the scope of work and the fact that it is an educational institution. The hourly rate for certified educational interpreters in ASL will be the primary factor in determining the total cost of the contract. Assuming an average hourly rate of $50-75 per hour and an average of 20 hours per week, the total annual cost could be in the range of $50,000 to $75,000. However, this is just a rough estimate and the actual budget could vary depending on the specific needs of the school district and the vendor's pricing.
