Description

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is seeking to support the Martin Delaney Collaboratories (MDCs) for HIV Cure Research. The goal of the MDC program is to develop strategies to control viral replication without the need for lifelong antiretroviral therapy, with an ultimate goal of completely eradicating HIV reservoirs from the individual. The program will also address the unique needs of children living with HIV. Key aspects of this opportunity include: • The MDC program will accelerate HIV cure research by fostering strategic collaborations among academic institutions, scientists in government, the private sector, and community stakeholders. • The program provides economies of scale by leveraging shared reagents, research resources, and specialized technologies in support of basic, translational, and clinical research. • The estimated funding for this opportunity is $20,000,000, and it is expected that 6 awards will be made. • Eligible applicants include private institutions of higher education, public housing authorities, independent school districts, small businesses, and non-profits, among others.
