The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Counterterrorism (CT) announces a competitive funding opportunity to strengthen the security of critical transit routes in northern Mozambique and protect U.S. economic interests. The program will provide specialized training and non-lethal equipment to law enforcement units in Mozambique to detect and disrupt terrorism threats along the N380 and N1 highways. The goal of the program is to reduce the risk of attacks and disruptions along these vital highways and give U.S. entities greater confidence to operate and invest in the region. Key activities include:
• Providing specialized training to law enforcement units
• Providing non-lethal equipment to law enforcement units
• Deploying an experienced mentor to work alongside law enforcement units
• Enhancing the ability of law enforcement units to secure transit routes critical to the energy sector in the Cabo Delgado region.
