Description

Ulster County is seeking competitive proposals from qualified engineering consulting firms to perform a comprehensive update of the information associated with determining base flood elevations along the lower portion of the Esopus Creek. The Study area extends approximately 32 linear stream miles from downstream of the Ashokan Reservoir to the confluence of the Esopus Creek with the Hudson River and encompasses an estimated 230 square miles. Proposers should have significant experience in floodplain modeling and mapping as it relates to FEMA requirements. Budget estimate

$250,000 – $500,000

Based on typical consulting rates for flood‑plain engineering (≈$150‑$250 / hour) and an estimated 2,000‑3,000 billable hours for a 12‑month comprehensive study, the total contract value is likely between $250,000 and $500,000. Factors influencing the final amount include the depth of hydraulic modeling required, data acquisition costs, and any supplemental GIS deliverables.
