The City of St. Marys is seeking a qualified transportation engineering firm to conduct a Traffic Impact Study for the Commerce Park area. The study will evaluate current and projected traffic conditions at key intersections and roadways, including the impact of a proposed 990-unit residential development. The selected consultant will be required to collect and analyze existing traffic data, provide a description of all transportation facilities in the study area, evaluate the existing performance of the transportation system, and forecast traffic volumes and performance on all arterial, collector, and local roads within the study area. The consultant will also be required to identify potential roadway and intersection improvements that are needed to maintain a Level of Service of "C" and prepare a comprehensive Traffic Impact Study report with supporting documentation.
• The study area includes several intersections, including Douglas Drive and State Route 40 Spur, Westerly intersection of Palmetto Street and Douglas Drive, and Brickhill Road and Point Peter Road.
• The consultant will be required to use data provided by the city and historical growth trends or other accepted methodology to estimate the background growth of traffic volumes on the transportation system without consideration of the development in Commerce Park.
• The consultant will be required to complete trip generation, distribution, and assignment for all aspects of the proposed developments and assess the adequacy of sight distances that are provided at driveways and streets abutting the development.
• The consultant will be required to present findings to City staff and/or elected officials as needed.
