Ekstrom Library Emergency Generator Replacement #3

The University of Louisville is seeking a qualified contractor to replace the existing 350 kW emergency generator at the Ekstrom Library with a new 400 kW Caterpillar diesel generator, including demolition of the old unit, installation of a new 600 A automatic transfer switch, associated electrical upgrades, and coordination to minimize library downtime. The work must be performed over the summer of 2026, complying with all applicable codes and university safety guidelines. • Demolish and remove the existing 350 kW generator, transfer switch, fuel tank, and related equipment. • Install a new 400 kW CAT D400 GC diesel generator, new 600 A ATS, conduit, panels, grounding, and related electrical infrastructure. • Phase work to limit interruption of emergency power, coordinate outages with university facilities, and complete all tasks by the August 3, 2026 final‑completion deadline.
