Investment Broker Dealer Services

The City of Sugar Land is seeking to select up to six investment broker/dealers to provide services to the City. The selected broker/dealers will be required to have experience working with government agencies and must demonstrate a good reputation, competitive pricing, and a strong understanding of the City's investment policies and goals. The City's investment portfolio ranges from $150 million to $300 million and is comprised of U.S. Treasury and Agency obligations and a Local Government Investment Pool. The broker/dealers will be evaluated based on a point system, with categories including completed package, public fund client base, broker office location, trade failure rate, trade in securities used by the City, clients similar to the City, and references. • The City's investment policy regulates the standards and procedures used in its cash management activities. • The City requires broker/dealers to acknowledge, in writing, that they have received and read the City's investment policy. • The City will maintain relationships with qualified members of the broker/dealer community who understand the needs, constraints, and goals of the City. • The City solicits competitive bids and offers on most transactions. • All securities will be delivered against payment to the third-party custodian named by the City.
