Description
The New York City Department of Social Services (DSS) is seeking qualified legal service providers to offer citywide immigration and employment-related legal services under the Immigrant Opportunity Initiative (IOI) and Low Wage Worker Legal Services (LWW) program. The selected proposers will provide legal services to low-income immigrant New Yorkers, including but not limited to community outreach and case management, immigration legal services, and employment-related legal services. The proposers must have a full range of staff to address complex, interrelated legal matters faced by the target population.
Key aspects of the program include:
• Providing written advocacy and pre-litigation support and comprehensive individualized legal counsel or advice regarding employment matters
• Maintaining an array of resources, including paralegals and benefits experts, to effectively serve the target population
• Ensuring that services are provided by an attorney, a U.S. Department of Justice-accredited representative, or a law graduate, paralegal, or law intern supervised by an attorney
• Having electronic data processing capabilities to track and report program activities
• Collecting data required by DSS and ensuring that it is timely, accurate, and complete
The proposers must have a minimum of three years' experience managing contract budgets for the provision of legal services and must achieve enrollment targets assigned in their contract to receive full funding.
