Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking sources for an automated inverted microscope system. The system should have various features such as brightfield imaging, widefield fluorescence, and phase contrast microscopy with high spatial resolution and fast scan rates. It should also have a high level of automation, allowing image capture in multiple modes, and be programmable for continuous monitoring over several days. The system must be compatible with other existing Zeiss microscopes in the lab. Some key features of the system include: • Motorized focus drive with minimum step width of 20 nm or better • Motorized nose piece to automatically switch objectives • Motorized filter turret • Binocular tube and eyepieces when required • Motorized condenser capable of phase contrast and DIC microscopy • Sample Stage: Motorized X-Y scanning stage with travel range of ≥100 mm (X-axis) and ≥100 mm (Y-axis) • Camera with detector: Complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS), resolution: > 15 Megapixels, and frame rate: fast frame readout > 20 fps • Illumination Sources and Filter Sets: Multi-channel light emitting diode (LED) source, integrated control unit for continuous brightness adjustment, and filter sets for multi-color imaging • Software with graphical user interface to operate microscope, all imaging modalities, attached cameras, and accessories supplied by the vendor • Heating/Temperature Control and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Control Units to support mammalian cell cultures • Workstation class personal computer with Intel Xeon processor, 32 GB RAM or greater, dedicated graphics card, and a single monitor with a screen measuring 30” or greater diagonally.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide a specific budget or price range. However, based on the complexity and features of the automated inverted microscope system, it is likely to be a significant investment. A rough estimate could be in the range of $200,000 to $500,000, considering the cost of high-end microscopes and related equipment. The actual budget may vary depending on the vendor's pricing, the specific features and components required, and other factors.
