Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications for research on the development and progression of clonal hematopoiesis (CH) in people living with HIV (PLWH) and individuals affected by other chronic inflammatory, infectious, or age-related conditions. The goals of this NOFO include elucidating the mechanisms by which chronic inflammation and HIV-associated factors promote CH, understanding the global variation in CH prevalence, and determining the impact of CH on heart, lung, blood, and sleep health. Key aspects of this opportunity include: • Research on the development and progression of clonal hematopoiesis in PLWH and individuals with other chronic conditions • Elucidating the mechanisms by which chronic inflammation and HIV-associated factors promote CH • Understanding the global variation in CH prevalence • Determining the impact of CH on heart, lung, blood, and sleep health • Developing novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies to prevent, treat, and potentially cure heart, lung, blood, and sleep conditions initiated and/or accelerated by CH.
