The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is soliciting innovative research proposals for the Area-Multiplied Photonic-crystal Enhanced Devices (AMPED) program. The goal of AMPED is to demonstrate single-mode, diffraction-limited, continuous-wave (CW), highly efficient laser devices capable of unprecedented output power in a chip-scale form factor.
• The program is open to U.S. Citizens and U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card holders) representing U.S. companies only.
• Proposers are expected to present thermal management strategies enabling device operation.
• The solution does not need to be a PCSEL but does need to be of chip-scale form factor.
• There are no specific TRL/MRL requirements.
• The program has a non-fundamental designation, and all publications will be subject to review by DARPA prior to release.
