The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to the Yosemite Area Regional Transportation Authority for the project titled "Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS) Support". The project aims to provide support for public transportation by YARTS, which provides regularly scheduled public transportation service to Yosemite National Park. The recipient will be responsible for planning, coordinating, operating, scheduling, marketing, and managing a regional transportation system that provides access to Yosemite National Park. The project goals and objectives include providing a safe and convenient public transportation service to residents and visitors, alleviating traffic congestion, and reducing the demand for parking spaces.
Some key points of the project include:
• Providing a minimum of five round-trips per day on State Route 140, and three round-trips in summer on Highway 120 West and Highway 41.
• Providing an effective level of service in response to demonstrated community and visitor market needs.
• Providing services that are financially sustainable within existing local, state, and federal funding programs and regulations.
• Expanding public transit services for the Yosemite Region without adversely affecting existing YARTS services.
