The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking information from potential contractors for the procurement of PARAPAC PLUS MRI Ventilators. The Boise VA Medical Center requires 3 MRI compatible ventilators to transport critically ill and mechanically ventilated patients to MRI for diagnostic purposes. The ventilators must meet specific salient characteristics, including being pneumatically powered, having various alarms, and being portable and lightweight. Interested businesses should provide a capability statement and a courtesy market research quote to [email protected] by 10:00am PST on January 16, 2026.
• The transport MRI ventilator has the appropriate ventilator modes and functions to meet the patient’s ventilatory and oxygen demands in nearly all situations.
• MRI ventilator is a pneumatically powered device, which negates the need for a continuous electrical power source.
• Device is highly versatile and can be used in all inpatient care areas in which mechanically ventilated patients need to be transported to though its use would be primarily for MRI transport.
• Device is equipped with various alarms that include but are not limited to disconnection, high inflation pressures and supply gas failure, helping to ensure patient safety.
• Control settings allow for the easy manipulation of tidal volume, respiratory rate, PEEP and FiO2.
• Ventilator meets RME requirements for noncritical medical equipment.
• Device uses a disposable device-specific circuit, which will require a CPRC request.
• Device is portable and lightweight.
• Device is suitable for use with facility MRI scanners
• Device will require no additional infrastructure or technology upgrades.
• Device will have integrated PEEP function
• The small footprint to fit at a patient’s side, on a stretcher or bed, in an ambulance or aircraft, and on an MRI table
• Non-ferrous construction allowing it to be positioned next to a 3-Tesla shielded magnet affecting neither ventilator function nor MRI scan quality and it is approved for use in a spatial gradient of up to 7.5 Tesla in the MRI environment
