The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requires commercial cloud solutions for Department-wide use. The scope of this effort, titled Cumulus, includes commercially available Anything as a Service (XaaS) covering Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), professional services, marketplace solutions, and training services. The goal is to deliver strategic level value to the Department, including increased oversight and understanding of CSP solutions being procured across the Department and how they may be collaboratively leveraged from both a mission delivery and spend perspective. Key features of the Cumulus program include:
• Secure, scalable, flexible, automated, and cost-effective cloud computing capabilities
• Support for over 600 cloud-hosted systems, including major, mission-critical, safety-critical, and life-critical systems
• Access to commercially available and FedRAMP-authorized cloud services
• Unrestricted resource provisioning and integration capabilities for multi-cloud ecosystems
• Technical criteria for scalability, reliability, and availability
• Offerings for XaaS, serverless computing, and integration platforms
The Cumulus program aims to provide a multi-cloud ecosystem that supports reliable, dynamic, and innovative IT services accessible anytime, anywhere, and under all conditions.
