Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking sources capable of providing linen textile carts equivalent to brand Tecni-Quip. The carts must be fully enclosed, hospital-safe, and configured for towing throughout the facility's corridors via an integrated ball hitch system. The specific configuration, dimensions, and accessories described in the document reflect operational requirements that have been validated through sustained use of identical carts currently deployed at the facility. The contractor is required to provide brand name or equal equipment that meets or exceeds the physical, functional, and performance of the listed salient characteristics. Some key features of the required carts include: • Anodized aluminum alloy construction • Anodized surface treatment for corrosion resistance, sanitation compatibility, and extended service life • Structural integrity, with a secure frame and multiple hardware systems • No sharp edges on any surface, corner, or component • Fire retardant, staph-check vinyl or equivalent hospital-grade material for all fabric components • Multi-compartment shelving configuration with adjustable horizontal shelves and fixed vertical partitions • Recessed handles on both sides of the cart • Full perimeter bumper for protection of facility walls, door frames, and adjacent equipment • Fully enclosed cart with sealed front cover system to prevent airborne contamination of clean linens during transport • Integrated transport straps for securing cart contents during towing and over-the-road movement • Non-marking wheels that are hospital-safe for all floor surfaces • Towing hitch compatible with the existing motorized tugger system already deployed at the facility

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

The estimated budget for this opportunity is difficult to determine, as it is a Sources Sought Notice / RFI and not a solicitation. However, based on the requirements for 20 linen textile carts, the estimated cost could be in the range of $50,000 to $200,000, depending on the complexity of the carts and the materials used. The actual cost may be higher or lower, depending on the specific requirements and the bidders' proposals.
