Effluent Treatment System

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from industry sources to determine the availability and capability of companies that can provide repair and rehabilitation services for the site effluent agitation and PH treatment wet well on the NIST Campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The system, built in the mid-1990s, requires renovation and updating to comply with current regulatory requirements. The work includes replacing all tank components, safety blowers and heaters, and electrical wiring and conduit. The contractor must have specialized equipment and experience to deal with environmental issues and trained staff to complete the work. • The system was designed to comply with Washington Sanitary Sewer Commission (WSSC) effluent discharge requirements. • The entire system needs to be renovated and brought back to operable condition with all life safety systems replaced and updated. • The contractor must have experience working with site raw effluent and confined spaces. • The period of performance is estimated to be 10 months, beginning in June 2026.
