Lifespan Respite Care Program: Grants to New States and States Re-Establishing Their Core Respite Infrastructures

The Administration for Community Living is seeking applications from eligible state agencies to establish or re-establish state and local coordinated Lifespan Respite Care systems. The goal of the program is to deliver respite care and related services to family caregivers of children and adults across all age groups, disabilities, and chronic conditions. The program aims to provide new and emergency care services, recruit and train workers and volunteers, and help families access care services. • The program is open to new states that have not previously received a grant under this program and returning states who have had at least one Lifespan Respite Care Program grant but whose programs have gone dormant or lapsed since federal funding ended. • The program will fund approximately four cooperative agreements for a 3-year project period. • Awardees will work with the Administration for Community Living to implement data collection and reporting requirements under Section 2904 of the Lifespan Respite Reauthorization Act of 2020. • Eligible state agencies must administer the state's program under the Older Americans Act of 1965 or Title XIX of the Social Security Act (Medicaid), or be designated by a Governor to administer the state's program under this title.
