Data Warehouse Modernization Initiative

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide technology consulting services for its Data Warehouse Modernization Initiative. The goal of the project is to establish a scalable, cost-effective, and future-ready data platform that improves analytical efficiency, data consistency, governance, and enterprise-wide decision-making. The selected contractor will be responsible for assessing candidate data warehouse platforms, developing a secure and scalable data architecture, and implementing a production-ready pilot focused on ridership data. The project is divided into four phases, including platform assessment and recommendation, platform architecture and infrastructure provisioning, ridership data mart implementation, and future data-driven insights and enterprise analytics expansion. Key aspects of the project include: • Conducting a comprehensive evaluation of candidate data warehouse platforms • Designing and implementing a modern data warehouse architecture • Developing secure and scalable data pipelines for ridership data • Implementing data validation, error handling, and quality checks • Providing operational readiness and knowledge transfer documentation • Ensuring compliance with VTA's enterprise policies and procedures The contractor will be expected to provide a range of deliverables, including a structured recommendation document, target-state architecture documentation, provisioned environments, and operational and security documentation.
