HMEE IV FOLLOW-ON EFFORT

The U.S. Army is seeking information to assess the availability of sources to meet the Government’s requirement for the High Mobility Engineer Excavator (HMEE). The HMEE Type IV capability is a pneumatic tired, diesel-engine driven, all-wheel drive tractor with attachments, for excavation of small emplacements, material handling, and general construction tasks. The Army plans on procuring an estimated 360 HMEEs over a minimum of five, and a maximum of 10, one-year periods. • The HMEE Type IV tractor shall consist of a tractor equipped with a front loader attachment, a rear mounted backhoe, portable tools, and when specified, provisions for a radio set. • The tractor shall include electronic over hydraulic (EOH) controls. • The tractor shall have a common vehicle design between types, utilizing interchangeable components as far as practicable. • The system shall provide for simultaneous operation of the rear attachment and any auxiliary tool without degradation.
