Annex West HVAC Improvements: Project 23-00003

The project involves providing HVAC system upgrades to the existing Emergency Operations Center (EOC) data center at the Pierce County Department of Emergency Management Facility. The work includes the removal and replacement of two roof-mounted HVAC units, new condensing units, new duct heaters, new ductwork, and the installation of a Hot Aisle Containment (HAC) system within the existing data center room. The project requires selective demolition, concrete forming and accessories, concrete reinforcing, and cast-in-place concrete. The HAC system shall enclose the hot aisle between two adjacent rows of equipment racks and include sliding aisle end doors to seal either end of the hot aisle. The system shall be designed to accommodate up to 1” of vertical movement between the HACS and the ceiling and shall be capable of resisting the required earthquake forces for the location. Key aspects of the project include: • Selective demolition and removal of existing HVAC equipment and ductwork • Installation of new HVAC units, condensing units, and ductwork • Installation of a Hot Aisle Containment (HAC) system • Concrete forming and accessories • Concrete reinforcing • Cast-in-place concrete • Fire rating classifications and seismic restraints The project requires coordination with the Owner and other trades, and the contractor shall ensure that the work is completed without disrupting the Owner's operations.
