Description

The City of Santa Barbara is seeking a qualified contractor to replace the existing street‑light poles on Stearns Wharf with custom‑fabricated 316L stainless‑steel poles, apply a multi‑stage marine epoxy coating, and reinstall the existing lighting fixtures using specialized through‑deck mounting. The scope includes design‑approved material procurement, welding, coating, site preparation, traffic‑control planning, and final testing/acceptance. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder and will require performance and payment bonds, extensive insurance, and compliance with prevailing‑wage and safety regulations. • Supply and install 25 new 316L stainless‑steel light poles (18‑ft and 25‑ft HSS sections) with marine‑grade epoxy coating. • Salvage, test, and re‑attach existing lanterns, wiring, and ancillary equipment (cameras, speakers, Wi‑Fi, signage). • Provide full documentation (shop drawings, WPS, coating inspection reports, as‑built drawings) and meet strict CAL‑OSHA, ASCE 7‑16, and AISC 360‑16 code requirements.

Budget estimate

$150,000 – $300,000

No contract value is disclosed, but based on typical costs for custom‑fabricated 316L stainless‑steel poles (including material, multi‑stage marine coating, welding, shipping, traffic‑control, and installation) the project is likely in the $150,000‑$300,000 range. Lower end assumes standard quantities and minimal ancillary equipment; upper end reflects premium coating, extensive electrical integration, and strict waterfront environmental controls.
