INSURANCE – WORKERS’ COMPENSATION

Cameron County is seeking proposals from qualified insurance brokers to provide workers' compensation insurance for a three-year period. The successful proposer will provide a fully insured workers' compensation program with various coverage options, including statutory coverage, deductible options, and annual premium guarantees. The proposer will also provide risk management information, including claims information, estimated payrolls, and annual agent/broker services. The contract term is anticipated to be three years with the option to renew for two additional one-year terms. • The County has an aggressive return to work program with no employees exempt. • There are seventeen locations with more than 50 employees at a single location, housing an estimated 2,166 employees. • The County has a written Safety Program, including ongoing employee education, preventive maintenance, hazard controls, and Personal Protective Equipment. • Certificates of Insurance are secured from Contractors confirming Workers’ Compensation Insurance. • A Safety Committee is currently operational. • Post-Offer physicals are administered, including back x-rays, drug screening, and hepatitis screening for first responders. • The County has a Driver Training program and emergency or disaster programs in place at all key locations.
