Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a contractor to provide full‑service mortuary support for unclaimed or indigent veterans at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System. The work includes preparation, embalming, cremation or burial services, refrigerated storage, and transportation of remains to designated national or state veterans cemeteries. All services must be performed by licensed personnel and the contractor’s primary facility must be located within 25 miles of the VA Palo Alto site. The contract is structured with a one‑year base period and up to four optional one‑year extensions, totaling a possible five‑year performance window.
• Provide embalming, body preparation, casket/urn provision, and optional cremation.
• Transport remains from VA facilities to contractor’s site and onward to VA‑approved cemeteries.
• Maintain refrigerated storage, secure handling, and compliance with VA, state, and federal regulations.
• Respond to VA notifications within 1 business day and complete burial within 10 days.
• Implement a quality‑control program and meet VA security and privacy requirements.
