The City of Pinole is seeking proposals from qualified firms to design and install battery energy storage systems (BESS) at two sites: the Pinole Youth Center and the joint Pinole Tiny Tots/Pinole Swim Center. The selected firm will be responsible for conducting site assessments, recommending BESS options, designing the systems, obtaining necessary permits, and completing the installations. The project aims to support the City's climate action and adaptation plan, which includes goals for municipal and community building decarbonization, microgrids, EV charging infrastructure, and climate resilience. Key considerations include the type of battery, latest technology, ease of use and management, safety, efficiency, lifespan, low maintenance, depth of discharge, and smart energy management capability. The project is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and must comply with all applicable federal statutes, regulations, and award terms.
