Description
The Jefferson County Public Schools is seeking proposals for the installation of walk-in cooler and freezer units for two new school cafeterias. The proposal requires two separate bids, one using R-448A refrigerant and the other using R-454B (A2L) refrigerant, in compliance with the proposed AIM Act requirements. The bid is scheduled for approval at the JCPS Board Meeting on December 9, 2025.
• The installation of new HVAC systems utilizing refrigerants with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) above 700 will be prohibited effective January 1, 2026.
• Proposers must submit two separate proposals, one for each refrigerant option.
• The awarded contractor will be required to proceed under the original R-448A specification if the rule is subsequently delayed.
