Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from potential sources for Xray Tomography Software. The software should be able to simulate various vendor's laboratory transmission and reflection laboratory sources and geometries, including synchrotron. It should also be able to simulate X-ray energies from 1 keV to at least 450 keV range, and have the capability to adjust source spot size. The software should allow for the import of custom surface meshes, integration of multiple mesh objects and materials, and have the capability to generate basic shapes. • The software should be able to simulate the effect of scattering through Monte-Carlo or a comparable method. • It should consider scintillator material and its detection/conversion efficiency. • The software should be able to simulate various detector configurations, including flat panel detector and optical camera-based detector. • It should have the capability to control detector signal-to-noise ratio and image sharpness. • The software should be able to simulate various scanning trajectories, including circular, laminographic, and custom. • It should have a scripting language to vary parameters and run simulations, with a stronger consideration given to software with python-based API.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The estimated budget for this opportunity is difficult to determine, as the document does not provide a specific budget or pricing information. However, based on the complexity of the Xray Tomography Software and the requirements specified, it is likely that the budget will be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000. This estimate is influenced by the fact that the software is intended for a nondestructive defect detection metrology project in semiconductor advanced packaging, which may require specialized and high-end software.
