Household Hazardous Waste Services

The City of Santa Monica's Resource Recovery and Recycling (RRR) Division is seeking a contractor to manage hazardous waste services. The contractor will be responsible for providing monthly pick-up and disposal services for hazardous waste collected at the City's Hazardous Waste (HW) facility, as well as providing a staff person to assist the City's hazardous materials technician part-time throughout the week. The contractor may also be required to provide door-to-door household hazardous waste pickup, transport, and disposal for residents, and to collect hazardous waste abandoned in public spaces. The contractor must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, permits, and regulations governing hazardous waste collection, transportation, and disposal. • The contractor must have at least 5 years of experience in hazardous waste transportation and disposal. • The contractor must employ trained staff capable of collecting, sorting, identifying, packaging, and disposing of hazardous waste. • The contractor must comply with the City's Living Wage Ordinance and provide benefits to employees. • The contractor must have a valid HAZWOPER certification and maintain it throughout the contract term. • The contractor must provide pricing per pound for each item listed in the bid proposal, as well as a pricing methodology for additional materials not listed.
