Description

The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) is seeking proposals for the One Comprehensive Universal Radiotherapy for Everyone (1-CURE) program. The goal of the program is to develop a revolutionary radiotherapy approach that is effective against all cancers with a single, rapid, and low-cost treatment. The program will focus on the integration of advanced ultra-high dose rate FLASH-RT with multifunctional immunogenic smart radiotherapy biomaterials (SRBs). Key aspects of the program include: • Developing multifunctional immunogenic nanoparticle SRBs that can guide FLASH-RT and boost abscopal responses through the release of immunoadjuvants. • Creating an Abscopal Treatment Planning System (ATPS) that integrates FLASH-RT and immunogenic SRBs to plan 1-CURE treatment for effective abscopal responses. • Ensuring the approach is widely accessible, with a dramatic reduction in treatment time and costs. • Addressing potential limitations of current RT biomaterials and treatment planning systems. • Leveraging enabling technologies such as FLASH-RT, smart nanoparticle technology, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Budget estimate

$10,000,000 – $50,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, but based on the program's goals and scope, it could be substantial. The program aims to develop a revolutionary radiotherapy approach that could potentially treat all types of cancer, which could lead to significant funding and investment. Additionally, the program involves the development of new biotechnology products, which could also lead to significant funding and investment. A ballpark estimate for the budget could be in the range of $10 million to $50 million, depending on the scope and complexity of the project. However, this is a rough estimate and the actual budget could be higher or lower, depending on various factors such as the number of awards, the complexity of the project, and the funding available.
