Description

The U.S. Army is seeking a new bench‑top Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP‑OES) system that meets a detailed set of performance, hardware, and software specifications. The instrument must be comparable to an Agilent 5800, include a solid‑state detector, dual‑view vertical plasma, automated sample handling for at least 180 positions, and be compatible with hydrofluoric acid. Additional requirements include a one‑year warranty, a remotely placeable water chiller, and compliance with EPA detection limits. The solicitation outlines strict criteria for spectrometer optics, RF generator efficiency, gas flow control, detector cooling, and software capabilities (64‑bit, Windows 11, automated QC). No refurbished or demo units are acceptable. • Bench‑top ICP‑OES system comparable to Agilent 5800 • Echelle polychromator, 253 mm focal length, <0.0065 nm resolution @ 200 nm • Solid‑state detector, Peltier‑cooled ≤ ‑40 °C, anti‑blooming • Dual‑view vertical plasma, handles aqueous & organic matrices (oil, MIBK, kerosene, hexanes) • Exhaust ≥ 2.5 m³/min, power ≤ 2.9 kVA, 200‑240 VAC • Integrated mass‑flow controllers, computer‑controlled O₂ addition • Cassette‑style torch, HF‑compatible nebulizer & spray chamber • Autosampler ≥ 180 positions, ≥ 11 standards, 64‑bit Windows 11 software with QC modules • One‑year parts/labor/travel warranty, optional remote water chiller.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $300,000

Based on market pricing for a high‑end bench‑top ICP‑OES system comparable to the Agilent 5800, plus required accessories (autosampler, HF‑compatible nebulizer, water chiller) and a one‑year warranty, the total contract value is likely between $100,000 and $300,000. The lower bound reflects a basic configuration; the upper bound accounts for full automation, optional accessories, and potential integration services.
