The US Air Force is seeking a contractor to design, construct, and install T-7 sunshade shelters at Randolph AFB in Texas. The project includes one row and one additional bay of sunshades, each protecting two T-7A aircraft. The contractor will be responsible for site surveys, electrical and structural designs, material procurement, and installation. The sunshades must meet specific requirements, including wind load and rain/snow load capacities, and must be designed to mitigate bird roosting and nesting. The contractor will also be responsible for painting and finishing the sunshades, as well as installing electrical power and lighting systems.
Some key features of the project include:
• The sunshades will be standalone structures bolted to the airfield parking apron
• Each bay will hold two T-7A aircraft, and a row will contain four aircraft
• The sunshades will have open ends and sides to accommodate the footprint of the aircraft
• The contractor will be responsible for installing obstruction lights and security lighting
• The project will require coordination with the regional/local electrical power provider for a full power outage, if necessary
