Description

The Los Alamos National Laboratory is offering a technology licensing opportunity for a thermostable GlowTag (YFAST) that enables rapid, high-throughput screening of enzymes at high temperatures. The technology has various market applications, including biofuels, waste management, chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage processing, and textiles and detergents. The key advantages of this technology include improved screening accuracy, expanded access to thermostable enzymes, and reduced storage and operational costs. • The technology uses a thermophilic organism and a specially engineered thermostable fluorogenic reporter protein. • It enables scalable selection of enzyme variants that remain stable and functional at elevated temperatures. • The technology has the potential to overcome key bottlenecks in enzyme development and open the door to more robust, cost-effective, and versatile enzymes for industrial and environmental applications. • The development status of the technology is TRL 2-3, and a U.S. non-provisional patent is pending.
