Architectural and Engineering Services

The City of Norfolk is seeking qualified firms to provide architectural and engineering services on an as-required basis. The primary focus of this contract will be to develop architectural and engineering designs arising from concepts developed through the City's urban planning, housing, and economic development initiatives. Services may include architectural design, inspections, evaluations, and historic tax credit documentation. The City intends to enter into an annual, renewable agreement with the selected firms. Key points to consider: * The contract will be for a period of one year with optional one-year renewals for up to three years. * The City will provide a scope of services for each specific request for A&E services required under the agreement. * The selected firms will be required to provide professional services to support tenant buildout or potential new construction or renovation in support of economic development opportunities. * The City encourages small businesses and businesses owned by women and minorities to compete and encourages non-minority firms to provide for the participation of small businesses and businesses owned by women and minorities through subcontracting, partnerships, joint ventures, and other contractual opportunities. Some of the services that may be required under this contract include: * Perform architectural design services, including preparation of required plans and specifications and plan books. * Conduct architectural inspections and/or evaluations and prepare reports. * Provide architectural designs for projects which may also include urban planning and conceptual design, scope studies, cost studies, and design of projects for renovations, alterations, and additions. * Perform architectural and engineering services in support of economic development initiatives. * Provide historic tax credit documentation and support. * Provide interior design services which may include interior space planning, casework design, furniture and equipment selection, finishes and other appropriate essentials. * Provide incidental structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection and civil engineering as required by specific projects. * Provide ad-hoc professional services as directed by the Director of City Planning related to A&E services.
