The contract is for the design and construction of a new wastewater reclamation facility at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The facility will employ membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology and UV disinfection to produce tertiary treated and disinfected water for campus irrigation purposes. The contract will be awarded through a collaborative design-build process, with a two-phased approach. The first phase will involve design and pre-construction services, and the second phase will involve design-build construction services. The contract value is estimated to be between $25-27 million. The project goals include creating a cost-effective and sustainable design, minimizing operational and maintenance costs, and constructing the project with minimal environmental impact.
• The facility will have a capacity of 0.5 MGD and will produce water that meets Title 22 reclaimed water standards.
• The project will include the design and construction of lift stations, force mains, and a lined earthen reservoir.
• The project will also include the design and construction of a multi-disciplinary classroom building.
• The contract will be awarded to a design-builder who is licensed in the state of California and has a valid "A" license.
• The design-builder will be required to provide statements of qualifications and proposed fees as part of the bidding process.
