PUBLISHING HISTORICAL RECORDS IN COLLABORATIVE DITIGAL EDITIONS

The National Historical Publications and Records Commission is seeking proposals to publish online editions of historical records. Eligible projects include those that focus on broad historical movements in U.S. history, including any aspect of African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, and Native American history. The goal of this program is to provide access to and editorial context for historical documents and records that tell the American story. Applicants should demonstrate familiarity with best practices recommended by the Association for Documentary Editing or the Modern Language Association Committee on Scholarly Editions. Key aspects of this opportunity include: • Eligible applicants include U.S. nonprofit organizations, colleges, universities, state or local government agencies, and Native American tribes or groups. • The Commission expects to make up to 28 grants in this category for a total of up to $3,500,000. • Grants are awarded for one year and for up to $125,000 per year. • Cost sharing is required, with the Commission providing no more than 75 percent of total project costs. • Applicants must be registered in the System for Award Management prior to submitting an application.
