Description

The Safety, Security, and Privacy for Open-Source Ecosystems (Safe-OSE) program is a funding opportunity provided by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) to address significant safety, security, and/or privacy vulnerabilities in open-source ecosystems. The program aims to catalyze meaningful improvements in the safety, security, and privacy of targeted open-source ecosystems that do not currently have the resources to undertake such efforts. The program is open to various types of organizations, including for-profit and non-profit organizations, state and local governments, tribal nations, and institutions of higher education. Key aspects of the program include: * Addressing technical and socio-technical vulnerabilities in open-source ecosystems * Enhancing the safety, security, and privacy characteristics of open-source products and their supply chains * Bolstering the capabilities of open-source ecosystems to manage current and future risks, attacks, breaches, and responses * Supporting a wide range of open-source ecosystems, including those based on scientific methodologies, models, and processes; manufacturing processes and process specifications; materials formulations; programming languages and formats; hardware instruction sets; system designs or specifications; and data platforms.
