Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate and award a contract without providing for full and open competition to acquire a Vibratome to generate organotypic tumor slices from patients' specimen. The Vibratome is a highly precise slicing tool that works like an advanced, microscopic deli slicer, and it is necessary for the cancer research at the NIH. The contract will include all applicable provisions and clauses in effect through the Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2026-01. • The Vibratome will be used to cut fresh tumors into perfectly even, living slices. • The slices will be used to test different drugs directly on these living slices in the lab. • The goal is to customize and design a personalized treatment plan for every individual. • The contract is expected to be awarded to Government Scientific Source, Inc. • The NAICS code for this procurement is 334516. • The simplified acquisition threshold for this contract is $350,000.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $350,000

The budget for this contract is likely to be around $100,000 to $350,000, which is the simplified acquisition threshold. The actual budget may be lower or higher depending on the specific requirements of the contract and the negotiations between the NIH and the contractor. The cost of the Vibratome and any additional equipment or services required for the cancer research will be the primary factors influencing the budget.
