Description

The Mesa Public Schools is seeking a contractor to provide treatment and maintenance services for their cooling towers and closed loop systems. The contractor will be responsible for ensuring the systems are in optimal operating condition, minimizing downtime caused by scaling, algae growth, or related maintenance activities. The services provided under this contract shall include all necessary labor and chemicals to effectively prevent the development of all forms of algae. The contractor must also be prepared to implement alternative treatment solutions if existing biocides prove ineffective due to resistance or changing conditions. Some key points to consider include: • The contract will cover 85 towers at 53 sites and 4 closed loops at an additional 4 sites, as well as 1 thermal storage system. • The contractor will need to provide a two-person team to clean towers, basins, intake louvers, and spray nozzles on a weekly basis. • The contractor will also need to provide a one-person team, 5 days per week, to take chemical readings, check blowdown solenoid, replace float valves, and verify controller functionality. • The district may require additional hours of labor per week over and above the 8-hour weekly labor specified. • The contractor will need to provide pricing for all chemicals, technical services, and labor, as well as any additional materials or supplies required. • The contract will be awarded to one vendor only, and the award will be based on the most advantageous proposal to the district.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The budget for this contract can be estimated based on the services and materials required. The district has specified that the contractor will need to provide a two-person team to clean towers, basins, intake louvers, and spray nozzles on a weekly basis, as well as a one-person team, 5 days per week, to take chemical readings, check blowdown solenoid, replace float valves, and verify controller functionality. The contractor will also need to provide pricing for all chemicals, technical services, and labor, as well as any additional materials or supplies required. Based on these requirements, a rough estimate for the annual cost of the contract could be in the range of $200,000 to $500,000, depending on the specific services and materials provided. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the number of towers and closed loop systems, the frequency of maintenance and treatment, and the cost of chemicals and labor.
