DCR 970 Water Safety Initiative - Statewide Beginner Swim Lessons

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is seeking partners to provide beginner group swim lessons to residents of Massachusetts. The Water Safety Initiative aims to create a safer environment for all patrons at public beaches and pools across the state. DCR is accepting proposals for programs to be offered at non-DCR sites that serve the public by providing group instruction on swimming techniques. Two primary types of programs will be considered: Beginner Group Swim Lessons and Lifeguard Readiness Group Swim Lessons. Key aspects of the program include: * Group swim lessons must be comprised of a series of eight to ten 30-minute classes * Lessons can be offered to participants aged 5 and older, including adults * Class size should be between 4-8 participants for each certified instructor * Skills should focus on getting participants comfortable in, on, and around the water; stroke development; and safety/self-rescue skills * All instructors must be certified as American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors or industry equivalent * Programs funded by this procurement must be free for all participants * Participants may only participate in a program twice per fiscal year * Vendors must provide total pricing for each program based on a per participant fee, as well as estimated participant totals.
