Description

The NASA/NSSC is seeking to acquire Solarcore Textile, a 0.8mm thick polymer aerogel-infused non-woven nomex/kevlar material, for use in advanced cryogenic storage systems. The material will be used to enable long-duration storage and transportation of liquid hydrogen, liquid oxygen, and other cryogenic propellants for future aeronautics and space exploration missions. The vendor shall provide flexible polyimide aerogel embedded fabric meeting specific requirements, including low density, high porosity, and low thermal conductivity. The delivery timeline is 45 days, and the delivery address is NASA/Glenn Research Center. Key requirements include: • Polyimide aerogel integrated into a continuous fiber fabric architecture • Flexible blanket suitable for wrapping curved cylindrical and spherical tanks • Low density (<0.20 g/cm³ preferred) • High porosity (>90%) • Low thermal conductivity suitable for cryogenic environments • Capable of operation from cryogenic temperatures through elevated aerospace temperatures

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide a specific dollar amount. However, considering the complexity and specificity of the material requirements, as well as the 45-day delivery timeline, it is likely that the budget will be substantial. A possible estimate could be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000, depending on the quantity of material required and the vendor's production costs. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the vendor's experience in producing similar materials, the level of competition, and the NASA/NSSC's budget for this specific project.
