Histological Services

The County of Alameda is seeking a qualified contractor to provide histological services, including the sectioning, staining, and mounting of cells and tissues on microscopic slides. The contractor will be required to provide these services on an "as needed" basis and must have a quality control policy in place to ensure proper handling and delivery of all pathology stains. The contract term will be three years, with the option to renew for an additional two years. The contractor must be certified, licensed, and qualified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Registry or an equivalent entity. Key services to be provided include: • Preparation of paraffin block slides • Staining of biological tissue samples for general microscopic examination • Processing of tissue specimens and slides • Immunoperoxidase staining • Decalcification of bone tissue • Providing all necessary supplies for obtaining histological specimens The contractor must also ensure compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and have a dedicated account manager who will be responsible for the County account/contract.
